Many SEO Experts Give Wrong Advice Regarding Wordpress Permalinks

Posted on 12. Jun, 2009 by Marc McDermott in SEO

A colleague of mine pointed out this article today over at weberz.com regarding wordpress permalinks.

Frankly, I cannot believe someone took the time to write this article. The entire foundation for the argument seems to revolve around the official ‘wordpress documentation’ manual.  In it, wordpress tells us NOT to start our permalinks URL strings with text.

Why you may ask? Well because our servers will take a few split seconds longer to load a page. The author even calls out Matt Cutts of Google and Danny Sullivan at Search Engine Land. For everyone’s sake, I hope these two don’t stoke the fire so we can label this as a non-argument.
